An ordinary life....

I went to bed fine and woke up this morning with my right shoulder in agony.  I assume I must have slept in an awkward position.  It feels as though I've been thrown from a horse and landed on my shoulder!!

Getting showered and dressed was great fun!  I had planned to make tomorrow's roast veg lasagne today but that plan went out of the window.  Strong painkillers and some Ibuprofen gel helped a bit and allowed me to get in the car and go to Ele and Kenny's for a small family celebration of Kenny's 60th on his actual birthday.

When we arrived Andrew, Nikki and Esme were already there.  Jennifer, our niece, has been teaching in a primary school for a month now and has settled in well and is loving it.  We were laughing at how many teacher mannerisms she has accumulated already.  At one point David said he thought she would give him a sticker, but she pointed out that he would have to work much harder to earn such a reward!  lol

Poor Ele had an emergency appointment with her dentist this morning.  Turns out she needed root canal treatments (the first of a few) and antibiotics for a rapidly developing abscess! Just as well she was seen as she and Kenny head off to their house in southern Spain tomorrow.

Between that and having spent time getting Kenny's mum's house ready to go on the market, it was decided that rather than cook a meal, we would just get a Chinese takeaway.  A very casual birthday celebration and we all enjoyed it.  The food was amazing.  Our local Chinese takeaway is amazing and theirs definitely rivals it!  I had chicken Kung Po and we all found it hilarious when Ele tried to order chicken Kung Fu!

After dinner we sang Happy Birthday and ate cake while Kenny opened his pressies.  He was very happy with the whisky we bought him.  And the Learn to speak Spanish colouring-in book!  And the Vintage 1962 t-shirt :-))

Esme was a little comedian as usual.  She finally ran out of steam and Andrew and Nikki headed home with her.  She's had an exhausting week celebrating her own birthday, her cousin's birthday, and her papa's birthday.  She has her soft play party with her friends tomorrow too, so the celebrating isn't over yet.

We stayed on for a little while then headed off home around 10pm.  My shoulder was still sore but we had a lovely day and my mind was taken off the pain.
