Birthday Boys - backblip

Jon, Jen & Amelia are back in Cheshire for a few days and we arranged a meet up at our local Garden Centre for lunch.  Jon is a training Captain with Sun Wing Airlines in Canada but is currently deployed to UK (Aberdeen) for a few months flying for Tui. Mr HB sent him solo in a glider many years ago and when J was 21 and Mr HB 50 there were celebrations at the Gliding Club and a cake.  On the top of the cake was a little glider in its trailer being towed by a Porche Car.  After the party J claimed the car and Mr HB the glider and trailer with the intention  that when J was 51 and Mr HB was 80 that the two would be reunited again.

Today, 30 years later, and at short notice, we tried to replicate that celebration, their Birthdays are a day apart.  Jen bought a cake with her and the little car and I brought the glider and trailer which we popped on the cake with candles.  The boys were suitably impressed and emotional! After a good lunch, a romp in the 'soft play' area by Amelia, and some other small terrorists, lots of memories shared and slices of cake it was time to say our goodbyes.  We gave the glider and its trailer to Jon as we're pretty sure this celebration won't be marked in another 30 years!!
