kites

After a successful shopping trip to find a jacket (I ended up with most of my jackets in storage) we went to the kite festival in the grounds of the former airport Tempelhof. The place is absolutely fantastic. There was some move to develop the area but people resisted and wanted to keep the place as on open park. Plenty of space for flying kites. The kites were really cool. The Bart SImpson one was 34m long and 8m wide at the shoulders. Afterwards we took a bus to the Southern edge of town to see what it's like. Found a windmill in a surprisingly rural setting (see extra). Trip back through Neuköln and Kreuzberg. We much more like the city areas.
