Diary of an Edinburgher

Covid Day 5

Still wabbit. Sore throat and losing my voice. However, I did manage to peel and chop all the apples from the back garden, and pop them in a big pot and stew them to make chutney. JR kindly had already added all the other ingredients, which made it easy for me.

Archie went out with Elizabeth, JR went to have a manicure (which was a birthday present from Elizabeth) and then into town. Once I’d done my cooking, I lay down on the sofa, and tiring somewhat of the non stop QEll funeral coverage, watched a ‘Wanted Down Under - Revisited’ episode, and dozed. Still feeling very cold.

A couple of deliveries arrived. We’ve realised that Archie’s increasingly odd little behaviours are actually phobias, and not uncommon in dogs. There are many possibly helpful ‘calming’ daily treats available so we’ll give them a go.

He hates some noises - eg he runs as far away (in the house) as he can when we bring in shopping bags, because once - years ago - the fridge door beeped when it was left open for too long. We’re careful never to let it beep again, but no, the damage is done - he runs away and hides. He leaves the room if an iPad is picked up. We can never watch University Challenge because of the buzzer - not that we watch it anyway - questions are too hard. And canned laughter - that’s the worst! The mute button is my friend.

Hazel has now tested negative. JR popped over to print out our boarding passes. Suitcases out tomorrow. I need to start getting in to holiday mode!
