Floral tributes

Up for a meeting with a director and then a day in the office mainly on zooms with Nick the writer and various contenders for script editor. Ploughed through the day before heading west for dinner with Simon and Elizabeth.

On a whim i diverted through Green Park to see the floral tributes.  It was very moving, there was a constant flow of people turning up with flowers, obediently taking the wrappings off and laying them at the foot of the trees. I felt a bit cheap having turned up without any. Lots of sweet drawings and letters some folded privately into envelopes.  They have blocked off the view through to the palace and I think to see that you had to go single file through another gate but even this gave you a taste of the power of the attention being given to the event.

I walked back to the tube with a heavy bag which was a mistake given how bad my back suddenly is….by the time i got home I was in a lot of pain but hoping that a good night’s sleep will settle it.
