Transport

The nine euro ticket allowed people to travel on all modes of transport except fast trains. It was inexpensive and less complicated than the usual system. Discussions are being had about what next. The rationale of the need to change is going to impact on how well a new ticket system will work. If it is to get people out of cars or to provide affordable public transport wold require different approaches. Transport and affordable housing are closely linked and Berlin also suffers from an aggressive and expensive rental market.
Any future plan will need to take both into account.
