The aliens have landed!
A different start to the day today - cloudless blue skies from the word go! Having seen on Monday that the potato haulms had died down - tho' it seems rather early - we went down to the Walled Garden to dig them up.
Not a great crop - the First Early 'Foremost' have barely showed above the ground in spite of having been chitted before planting - the crop was poor. The maincrop wasn't much better. It's been a bad year for the veggies - all but three of my pea plants have been chewed to the ground by animal unknown! We picked a handful of runner beans - at least they have taken a turn for the better.
It was glorious working in shirtsleeves in the sunshine. Then suddenly Mrs M called 'It's raining!' and so it was! Just long enough to wet my shirt, then it stopped. Three or four minutes maybe, just as it did at Dunollie on Tuesday. The strangest weather I can remember. Once the cloud passed the sun came back out and now it's streaming through the window behind me.
The mysterious alien landing pad has been completed - this was the beginning of it - https://www.blipfoto.com/entry/3008057837818480825 I assume it's a yurt - I haven't yet heard what it's to be used for.
