Solitary Tree Blossoming

I carved an hour out of my midday to go to Carpenter Lake Preserve, a suburb nature sanctuary with well-maintained gravel and asphalt walks for visitors of any aptitude.

Not a bird to be seen. More than half the mature trees devastated by the Emerald Ash Borer and Dutch Elm disease. This was the only tree blossoming in the mile walk that bordered a muddy man-made "lake". Upon reflection, i suspect it was a manufactured subdivision that failed. The Lemons given back to the city were turned into lemonade in the form of a lake and nature preserve. Quite sad.

I walked off the path to hunt down this tiny splash of springtime amongst the behemoth carcasses.
