Joining things

I am taking my own advice and settlng into this town by joining things.
This evening I visited the Galloway Voices, a ladies choir.

I haven't sung in a choir since I left school, but I have heard many happy stories of community, connection and music, and wished that I could find one to join.

So the opportunity presented itself, and I took it.

But oh my, these lovely friendly ladies had been preparing a collection of songs for a concert in mid 2020, that was progressively postponed. They know the music really well, but I was struggling to turn pages on my book, trying to remember which line I was following and trying to sing in tune with my neighbour other right, while my neighbour on my left sang an entirely different part.
It was daunting, and at one stage during the evening, I thought about throwing in the towel, but it got a little easier as we went on.

I don't know if I shall take part in the concert in early Nov- that seems a bit ambitious from my current standing start.
