The view from the ‘Palace of Culture and Science’. Built during the Soviet occupation, it was a visible demonstration of who had the power. These days it’s dwarfed by the chrome and glass towers of the multinationals in the central business district.
Spent part of the day in a museum dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising, when the underground resistance tried to drive out the Nazis. Very little recent history in Poland makes for pleasant reading.
