Sporty girls!

It's May Day today and a public holiday in Belgium and myself and Olivia did a race! It was Olivia's first race and I think I was more excited than her. We travelled up to Knokke on the Belgian coast and Olivia's one and a half kilometre race was first so I ran around like a loony cheering from the sidelines. I was actually really emotional watching her run as she looked so small but I was so proud and I really wanted her to enjoy it as running has played such a big part in my life. I loved the fact that she chose her outfit to run in which consisted of red and black spotty leggings, socks with hearts on them, a long sleeved t-shirt with ballet shoes on and of course a beautiful skirt. She did ask if we thought a skirt was good to run in and we told her that it was up to her and if she wanted to wear a skirt she could (I'll put a photo in my Blipfolio soon!). She didn't know that she was going to get a medal and was so happy with her 'real' medal and wore it proudly all day.

I then did the 10km race, which I wasn't sure was a good idea only 10 days after I did the Antwerp marathon, but I couldn't let my little girl down. I ended up running a pb (personal best) so it was a good day all round. Oh, and Olivia enjoyed her race and has asked if she can do another one, but not until she's 6!
