Rowan tree

As we were walking around Cockermouth this afternoon I spotted this beautiful Rowan tree with it's red berries looking splendid against the blue sky!

Rowan trees are sometimes planted to ward off witches and black magic...

In some countries they say that Winter begins when the waxwings have eaten the last of the Rowan berries.
