Booth’s Books
We spent the morning at Booth’s, one of the many bookshops here. Also visited a gallery with some appealing paintings. After lunch it was back to book browsing, and I did a quick tour of the antique and craft shops. Bought nothing as usual, but I enjoy the feeling of rummaging through somebody’s attic. At Booth’s I bought two volumes of letters by Julia Cartwright (19th century art historian) and John Cheever. D asks, ‘do you really want to read that?’ I say, ‘I like reading letters.’
Book shopping here is all about whim and serendipity.
