Pet Remembrance Day

Tonight Mary Jo and I went to the park to join in an annual celebration of pets.  Unfortunately, we didn't hear about it early enough to prepare but at the last minute we hastily put together a lantern with the names of pets we had lost.  It's a lovely event and there were at least 100 participants who put together a light on a float with flowers and memorials of their pets then sent them off on the lake.  My blip doesn't do a very good job of showing just how many there were on the lake but the lights floated all the way across to the other side. 

I put a few pictures in Extra of people launching their memorials and one or two of the memorials.  Many of them are quite elaborate with pictures, poems and other sentiments.  

This event is scheduled every September and Mary Jo and I have vowed to get our act together so we can prepare our memorials properly.  The one we sent off across the lake was a combined goodby to several of our animals.
