History & Humanity

This was the nearest postbox to the spot where I stood to watch the Royal hearse pass by en route to Holyrood. I think it is from Edward VII’s time?

I cycled the route before choosing a spot, moving freely along the road whilst people on foot stood more restricted behind the barriers. Saw one woman sitting knitting whilst she waited.

I spoke to lots of people between Holyrood & Queensferry Road. Cycled side by side with a touring cyclist who hadn’t heard that the Queen died until he arrived in Edinburgh. Spoke to a couple who remember hearing her coronation when they were six and four.

History & humanity.
