Asters

I've always liked the late flowering aster, but it is a double edge sword as you know that their appearance means that summer is over. We used to have a gorgeous dark purple plant that had spread widely and looked simply stunning when in flower, but unfortunately our old boy Luger managed to kill it in the last years of his life. We replaced it with this paler flower, still beautiful but a much taller plant that does seem to want to spread. A little late season help for the pollinators though.
