It's Official!
This morning saw the televised proclamation of King Charles III at St James's Palace and we watched with interest as the formalities progressed.
The King, having made his pledge before the Accession Council, was required to sign two large documents (relating to the Church of Scotland) which appeared too large for the table on which they were set, with a desk-set of pens and inkwells placed awkwardly in front of him, causing him to shift them aside each time. Usually such formal events are planned in meticulous detail and I can't help wondering what Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth would have made of it.
However, all went according to schedule and he was duly proclaimed King by the Garter King of Arms, followed by three cheers from the band of the Coldstream Guards, who had doffed their bearskins to do so.
Back in the normal world, we went to the Roslin Fête to join in the fun but principally to see the Flumlet perform with his dance class. Extra photo shows a selection of his moves. The dancers now have their name on their T-shirts - I have mixed feelings about the wisdom of this, in any case I have cloned it out. We met up with Miss Flum and afterwards, as it had been so hot in the sunshine, went round to her house for a much-needed cuppa.
