Dunes

During an early morning trek to the beach, I accessed it by a different route, and was quite taken with this scene of the dunes in the lovely light. 

Artificial dunes have been constructed along coastal areas up and down the east coast of the U.S. in order to protect the land against potential ravages by storm waves from the sea. This area of the New Jersey Shore was ravaged by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.
