Patient Cat

For the last few days, our Munni-cat has been more restless and vocal than usual. Yesterday evening and last night, it became very apparent that something is wrong with her. She never settled down, hardly ate any food, and her many meows turned into howls that kept us awake pretty much all night. 

She also pawed her mouth a lot, so I suspected another tooth problem or gum inflammation - a known issue for the Munni-cat.

So first thing this morning, I phoned our vet. Five times. They do open on Saturday mornings, but all I got was an automated answer saying „we are all busy at the moment, please try again later“. 
I gave up and phoned a mobile veterinary team who call themselves „emergency service“. And got another answerphone message: „There are so many emergencies  at the moment that we can‘t take on any more cases.“

Then I phoned our old vet in the city centre, who opens for two hours on Saturday mornings. Her assistant answered the phone and informed me that the practice was full of waiting patients already, but he let me speak to the vet for a minute. She advised me to take Munni (the cat) directly to the nearest veterinary hospital.

So that’s where we went, after shooing Rani out of the carrier box and getting the Munni-cat into it, which wasn’t easy at all.

Getting to the vet hospital is a bit of a drive, and our little patient was feeling so miserable, she puked all over her carrier box, and I had to clean it out before we went in to see the vet.

But then our luck changed to the better. The waiting room was empty and we were admitted after just 5 minutes. The thorough examination showed a reddish, painful looking spot around her one remaining canine. For now, the Munni-cat got painkillers, so she can rest and feed again.  But we’ll be back on Monday to decide if she needs further treatment.

Ever since we came home again, she has essentially either slept or gobbled down some more cat food, so let’s hope she is on the mend.
