Went for a short run in the morning. It's a lovely route, out along a curving sea wall & back along a cycle track. The sea wall encloses a vast basin which fills with & retains water as the tide comes in. Automatic locks later release the water back through the harbour area at low tide - a dramatic sight & sound! The system was built in the 19th century to help combat the problems of silting, flushing the harbour & channel twice a day. The basin also used to contain storage & washing chambers for the once-important shellfish industry.

After that we drove down to a cider farm in deepest Normandy, between Lisieux & Caen. It's part of a scheme which offers free overnight parking - but with the hope that guests will visit the shop!
