Thank you ma'am

People say they remember where they were when JFK was shot, when the twin towers were bombed on 9/11 or when Princess Diana died. I'm sure we'll all remember where we were when we heard the news of the Queen passing away.

I was actually sitting in the lounge watching the BBC broadcast from Balmoral, but earlier, I was at the side of Derwentwater on a mizzly day, photographing with a couple of "old" guests (they're not old!) Andrew and Mick. We had a great morning chatting and photographing. I did love this fallen branch at the edge of the Lake. My third shot in as many days with a "stopper".

Such a sad day - we all knew it would come, but in some way never thought it would. Her Majesty was the constant in our lives, in our country (and around the world), and in the turmoil of government. A truly neutral head of state.

She will be sorely missed.
