Death of Queen Elizabeth II

It was a day we knew would come sooner or later. The inevitable end to the reign of Queen Elizabeth II came today. Most of us alive in the UK today have never known another Monarch. We were proud to be New Elizabethans.

She was quite simply unique, her legacy will be unsurpassed. She was the rock and stability for a nation even in the most challenging of national and personal circumstances.

The statement, about the Queen’s death, made by His Majesty King Charles III made me stop and think. It was a phrase we didn’t want to hear. We’ve just toasted the Queen as she joins her husband and toasted King Charles III.

I guess we’ll always remember where we were and what we were doing when the news broke. We were at home but we’d been in Whitstable this afternoon so todays blip is of the passing of a storm, marking the end of a momentous era.
