Quite possibly the best day of my entire life

Today is my 42nd birthday

Thanks to my awesome husband I have had the most memorable day of my life

He could not have picked a better present.

Today I was a zoo keeper for the day.

I mucked out and fed Rhino. I can not believe how emotional I was. They are completely adorable gentle beasts who suck grapes off the palm of your hand. I had no idea their top lips would uncurl like a trunk and tickle the food off your palm. And squeak like guinea pigs!!!! I am so in love.

I fed wolves, tigers, lemas, otter, giraffe. Then a lifetime ambition was experienced. I MET AN ELEPHANT. Not in a cage or pen. They were loose in a field. It was a bit of a trek through fields of wallaby. I fed her apples. Truly the most terrifying and amazing experience ever.

I had no idea we were going. Husband got me up and ready yo leave by 5am. Torrential rain but we left that at home. It was very sunny all day once the sun came up. He did not tell me till we were nearly there.

Our chief zoo keeper at whipsnade Sian clearly loves her job. And who wouldn't. I have never had career envy before. She was fabulous and really helped make the day.

I don't know what to say - words cannot express how totally totally TOTALLY blown away I am by this stunning present.
