Late sunflower

Growing sunflowers hasn't been easy this year. I realised how much water they need!

This one was planted in mid summer at the back of the plot, in no-dig soil. It's the only part of the plot I didn't water at all (mostly soft fruit and a very thick mulch) but I had to water the sunflower. 

It looked very poorly during the dry spell but is now recovering and will give me lovely late summer/autumn blooms.
