A Flowering Of 70's Flare

I loved growing up as kid in 70's - or at least as far as I remember I did! There is probably quite a bit of wearing rose tinted spectacles here - the summers were always gloriously hot and sunny and it snowed every winter, especially at Christmas!
Of course that wasn't always true but I do feel we had a much freer childhood back then - in the school holidays we were virtually outdoors all day from early in the morning until you were called in for tea by your mum.
Even the fashions were much more distinct then -  if not always necessarily better - I've definitely got my fair share of shocking photos of crimes against fashion (flares and big collars feature prominently) and terrible hair cuts! It had it's problems of course but it did seem a more innocent time - especially without mobile phones and the now all pervasive internet.
1977 itself was a very eventful year - with just a random selection of events including the opening of Star Wars in cinemas, the first commercial flight of Concord, the first test flight of the Space Shuttle, the death of Elvis Presley, Golden Jubilee celebrations here in the UK and Red Rum winning a record third Grand National at Aintree.
The variety of music in 1977 was incredible too - from Showaddywaddy, ELO, David Soul, Boney M, Rose Royce, Stevie Wonder, Hot Chocolate, 10cc, The Rubettes right through to The Stranglers, The Ramones, The Damned and of course The Sex Pistols - to name just a few!
You can't beat a good wallow in a bit of nostalgia now and again!
