Getting ready for next year

Earlier on in the summer there were lots of wild fires around the country, one in a village near us, that destroyed homes and crops.
This field is right across the lane from our house, the prevailing wind blows towards us, and it had a large crop of wheat growing. What has always been a pleasant sight, the golden heads blowing in the breeze, suddenly became a fire hazard, if it caught nothing would have saved our home.
The field was harvested about a month ago but the stalks were left.  Fortunately we have had some rain so the likelihood of fire had diminished  and today it has been ploughed removing the possibility completely.
