Old time fahrt

Classic cars here are called "oldtimers" and in Kettwig today there was a classic car rally, you might think it an odd day to have such an event but today is May Day and as such is a bank holiday - in the middle of the week, bizarre huh? These Germans do have crazy ideas.

It was the perfect day for such an event, the beer stand was doing a roaring trade as was the wurst counter and as for the eiscafé, we had to queue to get ice cream.

Other than the wander down into town for the cars it's been a quiet day, recovering from the excesses at the spargelhof last night - yes, there was spargel, fortunately there was also lots of other tastier food on offer, skipped pudding though - a choice of an eisbomb (some weird layered ice cream concoction) or pureéd rhuhbarb & marscapone, not quite my idea of what pudding should be, but then again I wasn't the host!
