The Robinson Memorial

Mack and Jackie Robinson are commemorated by this sculpture in recognition of their sporting, cultural and business achievements which included (between them) winning a medal at the 1936 Berlin Olympics, breaking the colour barrier to play major league baseball with the Brooklyn Dodgers and establishing the first African-American owned bank in New York City.

Most importantly, they are recognised as role models and for their tireless efforts to promote the cause of civil justice.
