Old and New ….
Plenty of both in the City ….St Helen’s goes back to the 12th C …….the Gherkin obviously doesn’t:-))
Apparently this was the parish church of William Shakespeare when he lived in this part of the City in the 1590s- according to Wiki .
Sadly it was closed when we were there …..but was going to open at 1 . Lots of these churches seem to open at lunchtime for the many office workers …….we decided to move on and eat at the Salvation Army International Headquarters cafe near the Millennium Bridge ….good food ,reasonably priced and away from the crowds !
