Cam Long Down looking towards the Severn and Wales

Rather recklessly we ignored the weather forecast and took a hike up Cam Peak and Cam Long Down, near Dursley. The sky was filling as we strolled across the top, 235 m above sea level - or Severn level in this case.

You can see the River Severn as she snakes along in the distance, with the mountains of South Wales beyond. The tiny white spot two thirds along is the dreadful Javelin Park incinerator, for whom there is a web site which shows the direction and length of the smoke plume. Today, the Forest of Dean was getting it all.

We made it back home just as the next band of rain hit and the gardens cried out with thanks. But it's a fabulous and windy view from there. On the way down I said hello to the almost infra-red tree in the extra.

And now for the second council meeting of the day... wish me luck.
