There and back again

Lamberts Castle (East side)

What a lovely day (again). Fresh but sunny, great day for a walk.

Today's view is not one that would have been available before the heavy duty pruning took place on this eastern side which was being taken over by small trees. It has now been cleared except for the small stand of trees running down the side of the slope, you may be able to see the trees that have been cut down, laying on the ground.

The footpath and banks on the right of the picture are the remains of the defensive ditch system of the Iron Age fort that once stood here. The small green hill on the left is Coney's Castle, another Iron Age fort which will be awash with blue bells in a week or so and just beyond it you can see Lyme Bay.

When we moved to the area in the 70's there were no trees on this side of the hill and it has now nearly been restored to what is was and you can appreciate how steep the slope is. Try Large.
