Fiery
Alex was booked onto a three-day First Aid course with the Wildlife Trust, which necessitated me dropping him at Corney's Barn in the Great Fen, to pick up a lift to Northampton. I made the most of this commitment by going for a morning walk round Holme Fen NNR.
The site was very much at the crux between Summer and Autumn - Heather and Purple Moor-grass in full flower, but fungi appearing and the Bracken already taking on coppery tones, hastened by the drought. This Common Darter found a perfect colour match for its perch!
