A momentous occasion

So, this is it! Number 1,000 of my Blipfoto entries. When I realised that this would happen on 30 April I just had to attend the Beltane Festival in Edinburgh to try and capture a photo that suited the gravitas of the occasion.

I look back to the very first image on 4 August 2010 and it was a capture of another festival, the start of the Edinburgh Fringe and I remember thinking that I would give this a try and maybe last a month, helped by the fact I was working for a magazine during the Fringe. My first milestone was the 100th and frankly wasn't that special an image.

By the time I hit my one year anniversary I think the quality of my images had improved immensely and I think that's helped by Blipfoto encouraging me to get out and take something every day. The two year anniversary needed a little celebration and a few little flames.

And so it comes to today's entry.Not exactly what I was planning but I do think it captures the importance of the event to me. Thanks to everyone at Blipfoto for making this an enjoyable way to expand creativity, please keep the ethos of the site where the users don't get asked to give up the ownership of their images and keep the exif data available so that people can't claim they have found an orphan image thanks to the latest silly law proposed by the government.
