Last little aster
Joy at sleeping well.
Springs in our steps on our walks.
Brook, river and woods.
Hugely better night, Ben woke a couple of times, I gave him a rescue remedy spray at 3am and he went straight back off to sleep, he woke again at 4am but went to sleep happily and didn't get up until 6:15am :-D Joy. He was actually still shattered this morning, whether the melatonin was still in his system (which it never has been before) or whether the rescue remedy spray has something more potent in it or maybe just the cumulative effect of so little sleep over such a long period. I felt really quite chipper though. Loads more energy for getting out and about. We walked to fetch some fresh bread for lunch, made some cookies and then did quite a long walk in the woods this afternoon.
Older teen is back to school tomorrow, so there's a September buzz in the house, uniforms being extracted from bottoms of drawers and books and bags assembled. Ben has one more day left before he goes back. I'm really hoping he can sleep for the next few nights so he can manage it OK. He has a great school with very small classes and high staff:student ratio. He needs 1:1 support as his behaviour can be quite challenging and aggressive when he's not happy. This year it's a new teacher for him and mostly new students, there'll be 6 of them altogether. I hope they all rub along alright. Ben is not interested in friendships or peer groups, which is a shame but he's just very happy chatting to adults and in his own head. The big challenge is getting the new staff up to speed with his diabetes, we did some training last term but there will no doubt be teething problems. Speaking of which, his bloods are high tonight for no obvious reason. He had a cookie on the walk in the woods but he had insulin with it and his bloods were stable at that point but now they're creeping up and up. There's always something to worry about :-/ We'll probably change his insulin pump before bed.
Photo is the last of the asters I bought when family were here nearly 3 weeks ago, the rest became sad and have been slowly disposed of and this is the last man standing. I've enjoyed them brightening the place up!
