Hermitage

This little chapel is known as a hermitage (Ermita) and is in the village of La Higuera (part of the larger municipality of Antequera in Andalucia). It was first built in the XVth century and has been restored several times in its history but most recently in 2000.  It is much loved by the people of all the villages in the area, for pilgrimages and festivals. I did the beautiful walking route which climbs up to this chapel passing through miles of olive groves and little hamlets.
