King Of The Lake
I've taken much better images of kingfishers but what a thrill to capture one on one's own patch whilst in its habitat. :)
Ollie dog and I were standing amongst the bulrushes on the bed of the lake hunting dragonflies when I saw an electric blue flash. The kingfisher disappeared into a willow on the southerly bank and I guessed it was on its way to the brook which runs south of the lake. However, a while afterwards I heard a kingfisher's piping call and eventually located it quite a way away on the landing stage. I even saw it dive for a fish from there. It was very difficult to get an image through the reedmace leaves but I'm glad I managed a record shot.
