Hand pump

This hand pump with water trough is located in the township Hundertmorgen (hundred morgen, where a morgen is approximately two-thirds acre). It was, many years ago, most probably very important for the township. But with the advent of drinking water networks it became more or less superfluous.
Some of the hand pumps are still in use, but I doubt that new ones will be installed. The water should be drinkable, but probably the officials will not allow this.
