Thursday: Handful of Toad

Today’s gardening job was to finish preparing the bed for the leeks. Moved the last few pots and starting loosening the soil when out clambered the biggest toad I’ve ever seen in my the garden! Lifted he/she up to check if it was ok but it wasn’t having any of that!! I ran indoors to get my phone for a photo, then moved it to a safer part of the garden and it went into one of the terracotta pots.

Emptied one of my compost bins and added some to the bed then planted the leeks, finishing off with a deep mulch of grass mowings - rain forecast tomorrow and for the next few days, I don’t water the garden unless I have to!

Quick drive to Lidl to stock up on our usual essentials and a few little treats :-)

Tidied up one end of new deep behind the greenhouse, added a good layer of fresh homemade compost, planted half a dozen red cabbage seedlings, mulched with grass mowings and prayed for rain …!

MrD was at home all day and painted the window frames of his shed.
Stay safe & healthy & happy everyone :-)
Nos da pawb / goodnight all xx
