Stuff and Nonsense

RSPB Snettisham #79-82

A 5.45am alarm call was well worth it to get to Snettisham for one of the high tide spectaculars. It was an hours drive and then a couple of miles walk to the viewing point, but the weather was lovely. As well as the many thousands of oystercatchers, red knot, curlew and ringed plovers out on the estuary escaping the incoming tide, there was plenty to see on the pools behind from the hides, including 19 spoonbills!!
A selection is shown in my main blip today which is a collage of some birds I don’t really expect to see easily again this year.
In extras is a shot of some of the birds in flight which didn’t happen quite as much as I expected but was quite thrilling when it did. A peregrine and a couple of marsh harriers were mainly responsible for this spectacle rather than the incoming tide I found.
A thoroughly enjoyable day.
