Woody Wednesday (31st August 2022)
After a week's absence as there wasn't any gardening needed Refna was back this morning, trying to mitigate the effects of Wiltshire's driest July since records began. A drought has been declared over the South-West but not all of Wiltshire is included so I'm not sure whether this applies here or not. No hosepipe ban was imposed as many of Wessex Water's reservoirs are covered, but everyone is asked to use water sparingly and I've been using gray water when possible in the garden.
My young plum and apple trees were looking very unhappy and these were removed from their whisky barrel tubs, repotted with fresh compost and horse manure and one tub so far lined with some spare pondliner.
There were several fruits developing on the medlar, but most of these have withered now, with just one left to ripen. The vine patch, blipped a fortnight ago, is thriving with the grapes having changed colour (in Extras).

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Temptations - I Wish It Would Rain (band track recorded 28 September 1965, recording completed 31 August 1967, Detroit MI)
The Temptations: David Ruffin (ld ten vcl), Eddie Kendricks (ten vcl), Paul Williams (bar vcl), Otis Williams (ten vcl), Melvin Franklin (bass vcl)
Completed on this day 55 years ago today, this was the 21st single by the Temptations, and was taken from the album The Temptations Wish It Would Rain. It was composed by Barrett Strong and Norman Whitfield, who also produced it, and was modelled on Carole King's song Crying In The Rain. I thought the sentiment appropriate for this dry spell.
The lyric by Roger Penzabene was drawn from his own life and sadly he committed suicide days after this recording.
