Chicken of the Woods

I've been watching this fungus grow for three days now. I wonder how big it's going to get? It's growing on the stump left from a big oak tree that was cut down over a year ago - maybe two? A bunch of dying oaks were cut down by the highway department along the dirt road that we walk daily. It's a bracket fungus. It's edible. We tried a little bit of one once, but were basically underwhelmed, so we won't be eating it until the apocalypse when there's nothing left to do but to forage. Then again, come the apocalypse there probably won't be any chicken of the woods left, so we're doomed. 

If you look closely, you'll see that the gnats seem to like it. For whatever that's worth.
