Some fast family fun in Oban
The ferry from Mull sailed into Oban at lunch time with Miss C on board. A and I enjoyed a lovely dog walk and coffee to Dunollie Castle before we met her at the quay.
It was a beautifully warm day, so we combined an outdoors delicious lunch of langoustines and chips with necessary 'big town' shopping for Miss C, and then topped it off with a walk in McCaig's Tower.
From afar, McCaig's tower sits on the hill above Oban looking for an the world like a Scottish Colosseum. But it is basically a folly built in the late 1890s to employ local stone masons. Mr McCaig died before he could realise his bizarre vision with statues of his family placed within the structure!
So there is a feeling of 'is that it?' when you stand inside the circle of archways.
