Deer oh Deer..

A bit of a change today.
Once I'd been round the cattle, took Littlemiss up the road to a neighbouring farm to help them with their deer.
Mainly for a bit of work experience for Littlemiss to add to her CV as she hopes to be a vet.
Today's job was to remove the antlers from the stags before they go out with the hinds to mate. This avoids them fighting the other stags and doing serious injury to each other. The antlers are dead and would naturally fall off later in the year any way,so the stags don't feel a thing.
We have never worked with deer ,but much the same as working with spooky cattle, and once we got the hang of it I quite enjoyed my day.
Back home by 3 pm so spent an hour turning the field of grass that got rained on on Friday, then headed down the road to feed the heifers.
Tested the moisture of the barley down there. The moisture meter said 16.5%, doing a bite test my teeth thought it was wetter. Will hopefully get some cut this week before the weather breaks again
Back home and headed back next door to finish cutting the field of grass I started yesterday. Had it done by 9pm by which time it was dark. It was a glorious sunset tonight and I was almost contented for a wee while driving up and down the field.
No doubt by tomorrow I'll be back to normal !
