it's the most wonderful time of the year...

...so as to steal the saying from christmas, but maybe it's the second most wonderful time of the year. canoefest is back again! only four more days, and then we hit the road for a few days of sun, fun, non-paddling, stealing pirate flags, and good times.

i've decided to try and be more pro-active this year by laying the camping gear all over my dining room a week early. it's so much fun to dust off the old gear, fill up and repair the cook stoves, and realize what new needs to be bought as it never made it home from last year.

grocery shopping has to happen this week - something i'm doing for the first time in a while, as i am usually traveling just before the event and never have time to shop. another joyous experience in itself!

by the way, i think the keen corporation has adopted a very loose definition of "waterproof", these being water sandals and all.
