Stelvio Pass 2757m

We left home in the dark at 5.30, dawn appeared pink and grey over Zurisee, I slept a bit, then we were going over the Fluela Pass, 2284m a little bit cloudy, and for us a very us very chilly with 11degC, it must be early in May since we had a temperature so low! We had breakfast in Zernez, then went over the Umbrail Pass 2501m. Suddenly we were in Italy, and heading up to the top of the highest pass, Stevio Pass 2757m. Quite an ugly looking ski resort at the top, but the view down the hairpin bends and into the glaciers was really amazing.
It was very slow driving to Meran, then we stayed on the Wein Straße, as the motorway was v busy, and you had to pay. We stopped for some lunch at Mezzocorona, what a beautiful town. By 3pm we were at the campsite in the middle of Malcesine on Gardasee, where we met our friends from Germany, the rest of the day was spent on the beach and in the water. Our friends also cooked dinner, then after we explored the city by night.
