Rowan Tree

Autumn has arrived a little earlier this year after the hot weather of the summer - looking out at my neighbour's Derelict garden I noticed the beautiful red berries on the Rowan Tree.
The Rowan Tree is steeped in folklore and was seen very much as a tree of protection.
A little look at the Rowan Tree - It is the Clan Badge of the Malcolms and McLauchlans.
In Norse mythology and legend that it saved the life of the God Thor by bending over a fast flowing river in the Underworld in which he was being swept away.  Thor managed to grab the tree and get b ack to the shore.
In the British Isles the Rowan has a long and still popular history in folklore as a tree which protects against witchcraft and enchantment
Lots more to read if you like to Google the Rowan Tree.

Not sure if this qualifies for DS but it grows in a neighbour's garden - which continues to need TLC
