When is a hippo not a hippo...
When it's a rhino!
I've been calling this drawing exercise a hippo all week! No idea why I suspect menopause brain Maybe I should start calling hippos and rhinos Rhippos, that way I'd be half right all the time :-)))
Charcoal is such a messy medium but good fun. I enjoyed this exercise but I am looking forward to playing with charcoal under my own steam. Following the exercises takes such concentration and there's always an undercurrent of fear of getting it wrong. When I choose my own subject to draw in the challenge week (next week) I am hoping that fear will be gone or much reduced.
Photos of the process in extras.
I started a practice painting of tulips today after spending a pleasant half hour choosing the colours and the paints. Went with my Japanese watercolours. I had planned to carry on and start the main painting but the studio needed a massive tidy up and I wanted to rearrange lots of things so had lunch then D and I blitzed the place. It's taken months for me to get everything exactly where I want it. I've moved things around loads of times thinking this is it, all I need is to hand, only to find it's not. This time I think it is. Remind me of that when I am rearranging everything in a couple of months time :-))
We had the option of socialising this weekend but decided to have a weekend off (well D is playing golf on Sunday but that doesn't involve me so that's fine :-)) I am looking forward to not setting the alarm and having a leisurely start to Saturday.
Have a great weekend peeps :-))
