Kite flying
We started the day with breakfast at the end of the garden, then went out to find some hills for kite flying - which involved getting past a whole lot of steers to then encounter a whole lot of cows, calves and a bull. I wasn't too happy about this, with dog and two children in tow, but out of nowhere a lovely park ranger appeared and said we could go anywhere as the Lake District is national park with roaming wherever you like, so we headed off the footpath in the opposite direction in perfect solitude. Dog off the lead and boys running around flying kits. Or, for the youngest, trying to turn his kit into a hang-glider by holding the cross part of the kit and wrapping the string around him, it didn't work, but he tried very hard.
Home, dropped off the (tired) dog, went out to lunch to a great little cafe, home, out again to collect the food shopping, home, out for a dog walk. Dinner at the end of the garden and the husband arrived just as the marshmallows were being toasted - great timing!
Today I'm grateful for:
Morning coffee outside
Exuberance of kite flying
The dog being shattered, he's had a good day!
