Here We Go Again
A difficult trip for us. The first time it's just been the three of us.
We are all facing this unusual trip together. This is our new style of holiday, without our best friends on the boat where The Mate died on our last trip. We can't help but be reminded of that as we pass his bunk.
We're aiming to do different things to take our minds off the past.
Mr Brown has been checking online to see which canals are open. So many of them are closed due to water shortage. So we'll stick to the Trent & Mersey.
Miss Green has been looking at some activities we can go into the villages to do, we've normally only left the boat for shopping. And has been sorting the catering.
Ms Scarlet wonders what she will be doing this trip. She usually cooks and helps with the locks but this time we need a new helmsman. Which of us will steer? I reckon Mr Brown will still be the one opening the lock gates.
As I bit of light relief between jobs we went to Larch Cottage nurseries for lunch and a look at the plants. There was an exciting new visitor there! We had wondered why we coldn't see any fish in the pond. It was surprising to see the young heron right up beside the buildings, and letting me get close.
