60mm of rain in 8 hours today

What’s the bus ticket got to do with a massive rainfall today you may ask?
Well today was the first time I’ve worn my goretex coat since June when we got the bus back from Cockermouth to Braithwaite village on a wet afternoon.
The rain started today around 4 am with thunder, lightning and real downpour. 20 mm in less than 30 mins to start with. Over 60mm during the course of the day. We struggled to sleep after 4.30 and at 8 am the Environment Agency phoned us with a flood warning!
